Apple baut einen neuen Mac Pro. Modular könnte er werden. Wie das aussehen könnte? So.

Der Mac Pro hat seit jeher polarisiert. Für die einen war er die "Tonne", für die anderen eine potente Arbeitsmaschine. Wir bei CURVED produzieren seit Jahren auf dem Profi-Mac unsere Videos. Nur blieb nach dem Release ein Update der Hardware aus. Die ist immer noch auf dem Stand von vor drei Jahren.
Modular bis ins kleinste Detail
Apple kündigte nun an, den Mac Pro auf den neuesten Stand zu bringen. Von einem modularen Aufbau ist gar die Rede. Aber wie könnte das aussehen? Und wie würde es funktionieren? Für unser neues CURVED/labs nehmen wir Anleihen am Vorgänger, ergänzten ihn aber unter anderem um schwenkbare Gehäuseparts, die einen Zugriff einfacher machen.
Die Specs in der Übersicht:
- Gehäuseseiten lassen sich rotieren
- zwei Slots für Grafikkarten
- Slots zum Austausch bzw. zur Erweiterung von SSD-Festplatten
- Slot zum Austausch des Prozessors
- Slot zum Austausch des Arbeitsspeichers
- Löcher auf der Oberseite, um heiße Luft entweichen zu lassen
- Powerbutton mit integriertem Touch-ID-Fingerprintsensor
- Touch Bar an der Front mit Informationen zu Komponenten
- Mikrofon- und Kopfhöreranschluss auf der Vorderseite
- SD-Karten-Slot auf der Vorderseite
- Anschlüsse für USB-C, USB, LAN, HDMI auf der Rückseite
- "Unlock"-Button für Gehäuseseiten auf der Rückseite
Ein neues Cinema Display
Um das Setup perfekt zu machen, würde sich ein neuer 27-Zoll-Monitor von Apple anbieten. Aktuell bietet der Konzern aus Cupertino für Profis nur die 4K-Monitore von LG an. Ein neues "Cinema Display" von Apple würde sich optisch an den aktuellen Retina-Bildschirmen der MacBooks orientieren und nur noch über einen sehr schmalen Rand verfügen. Über die Rückseite ließe sich USB-Zubehör anschließen.

The Mac Pro has always been controversial: for some it simply was the "trash can" (due to its design), for others a powerful machine. At CURVED we have been producing our videos on the Mac Pro for many years. But ever since its release an update failed to materialize. That was three years ago.
Modular – in every detail
Apple recently announced it would finally update the Mac Pro. There’s even talk of a modular design. So what might that look like? How would it work? Our new CURVED/labs focuses on those questions, borrowing from the predecessor and adding, among other novelties, swiveling casing components providing for easier access.
The Specs:
- the side doors can swivel/rotate to open
- 2 x slots for full-size graphics cards
- slots for adding/exchanging hard disks/SSD drives
- a slot for replacing the processor
- slots for adding/replacing memory
- ventilation holes on the top to release hot air from the computer
- power on/off button on the front in form of a touch-ID button
- touch bar on the front, which can display information about internal components etc.
- microphone/headphone jacks on the front for easy access
- SD card on front
- connectors on the back: USB-C, USB, FireWire, LAN, HDMI
- unlock button on the back (looks similar to that on current MacPro), which will unlock the side 'doors' so that they can open
A new Cinema Display
To round off the setup, a new 27-inch display by Apple would be ideal. The company from Cupertino currently only offers 4K displays by LG for professional users. An updated version of the "Cinema Display" would visually be based on the current retina displays found in MacBooks and come with very narrow edges. USB-accessories would be connected through the back of the display.
